9/18/2023 0 Comments Lyn irwin birthday![]() ![]() I was looking for answers and asking, "Why should this have happened?" and "Why not me?" There's a very good chance that I wouldn't have survived then, and also after Steve's death, had Judy not been there. She helped me understand the spiritual side of life. There’s a very good chance I wouldn’t have survived had Judy not been there. Steve was very perceptive, saw I was having problems and that the more interaction I had with Judy, the better I was. Judy was so good-natured and easy to get along with, like most wildlife carers are. I was having difficulty coping with the loss of Lyn and needed to get involved in more animal-type work. Sandra was special as she'd survived the car crash that killed Lyn when she fell asleep at the wheel. And so would I.īOB: When I first met Judy, I was a lonely guy with a bird-eating spider called Sandra and not much optimism. He would be quite happy if it was just the two of us forever. I'm so glad he worked with Amanda French to put down his stories, ones that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren would never have known, as there's no one left now from those early days except for Bob. He suffers from aches and pains and arthritis, but never says anything. But it's never stopped him from loving the animals and working with them. He's had many injuries, crocodile bites, even gangrene in his right thumb. He lived in a tent through the cold winter, putting in dams and fencing a paddock. When we bought our 260-hectare property near Kingaroy in February 2008, he moved onto the block the next day and set up his camp. I'm sure he would die if you plonked him in the middle of a city and said, "That's it." He also won't eat anywhere that has native wildlife on the menu and once left a store that sold crocodile pies.īob is very determined. He's got to have that constant connection with nature. He can't use a smartphone and is happy we don't have mobile reception. He's flat out working the TV remote, doesn't use a keycard and pays for everything by cheque. He only drinks Bushells tea, up to 15 cups a day – "Water is for showering," he says – and eats plain food. He had a mouthful of beer as a teenager, threw up, and that was it. Whether that's because of spirituality, age or no longer having the pressure of raising a family, he's a lot more relaxed now, rather than go, go, go.īob's very different. His Funeral was broadcast live with more then 300 million viewers. He's mellowed a lot over the years. ![]() He was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame. He was awarded the Medal by the Australian government. Honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He playd in many tv shows, voiced movies. He bought lands in Australia, Vanuatu, Fiji and US which he described as national parks. He helped found the International Crocodile Rescue. In addition to running zoo, Irwins established large private wildlife refuges and founded an international organization, Wildlife Warriors Worldwide, which protects habitat and wildlife, creates breeding and rescue programs for endangered species, and leads scientific research to aid conservation. The Show became successful in the US and UK and 130 other countries, reaching 500 million people. Film footage of it became 1st episode of The Crocodile Hunter. Steve and Terri spent honeymoon trapping crocodiles. In 1997, while on a fishing trip he discovered a new species of turtle. Bob and Lyn started the small Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park, where Steve grew up around crocodiles and other animals. ![]() Legendary Stephen Robert Irwin also The Crocodile Hunter was an Australian zookeeper, conservationist, television personality, wildlife expert, and environmentalist. ![]()
